Energy Efficiency Renovation in Greek Buildings: European Guidelines, Financial Instruments, and Innovative Digital Tools

On December 5, 2024, Greenesco Energy S.A. and LDK Consultants S.A. organised a workshop at Golden Age Hotel, Athens, to discuss strategies for accelerating energy-efficient building renovations in Greece.

Key takeaways necessary for Greece include:

• Develop innovative financing solutions, particularly for energy-vulnerable households, requiring €25 billion investments by 2035, with an additional €25 billion to phase out inefficient boilers by 2040.
• Align national guidelines with EU standards, while addressing Greece’s socio-economic realities.

• Expand the use of Energy Service Companies (ESCos) and Energy Performance Contracts (EPCs), overcoming current barriers like limited data availability and complex administrative processes.

The ENERGATE platform was recognised as a tool offering standardised processes, flexible financing solutions and simplified project evaluations. Stakeholders expressed strong interest in using the platform to overcome market barriers, streamline procedures, and boost financing for energy efficiency.
