After more than three years of collaboration, testing and stakeholder engagement across Europe, the ENERGATE Final Publishable Report is now available online, showcasing how the project helps bridge the gap between building owners, implementors and financiers to unlock large-scale energy efficiency investments.
The ENERGATE project, co-funded by the EU LIFE Programme, has reached a major milestone with the release of its Final Publishable Report. Over three years, ENERGATE has developed and validated an ICT-enabled Energy Efficiency Marketplace that connects private and public building owners, implementors and financiers, helping to turn fragmented renovation opportunities into financeable packages of energy efficiency projects.
At its core, the ENERGATE platform supports:
- Aggregation of smaller projects into attractive investment packages
- Standardised and transparent project data, improving trust and reducing due diligence costs
- AI-driven matchmaking and decision-support tools to connect projects with the right implementors and financiers
- Data-driven insights on energy savings, comfort and financial performance for completed projects
The report highlights ENERGATE’s real-world impact across pilot countries Greece, Italy, Latvia, France and Spain, with additional cases from Hungary. In total, the marketplace now brings together over 250 registered buildings, with the potential to trigger around 216 GWh of final energy savings and approximately €106.5 million in investments in energy efficiency renovations.
A strong emphasis was placed on stakeholder engagement, through interviews, surveys, regional training workshops and major European events such as Enlit Europe, World Sustainable Energy Days, EUSEW and others. ENERGATE has been endorsed via a Letter of Support by 27 municipalities, companies and organisations, and was recognised at the Verde.tec International Exhibition 2025 with a Greek Green Award as Best European Project, underlining its innovation and market relevance.
Beyond presenting the platform and its results, the Final Publishable Report also:
- Summarises key challenges in financing building renovations and how ENERGATE addresses them
- Shares lessons learned from building owners, implementors, financiers and public bodies
- Provides policy and market recommendations to scale up energy efficiency investments
- Outlines ENERGATE’s sustainability and after-LIFE strategy, including links with projects such as LEG-UP, ReLIFE and LiveBETTER, and its ongoing role within the Smart Energy Cluster.
