📘 Standardisation Activities and Policy Recommendations

This report documents how ENERGATE embedded standardisation and EU policy alignment into the design of its digital energy efficiency marketplace and translates project experience into concrete policy recommendations.

Summary
ENERGATE addresses one of the core barriers of the Renovation Wave: the difficulty of turning fragmented, small-scale renovation projects into investment-ready opportunities. Deliverable D6.2 shows how the ENERGATE platform was developed around common data structures, interoperability and EU Taxonomy alignment, ensuring credibility for both public authorities and financial institutions. The report also demonstrates how ENERGATE can actively support the implementation of the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) and the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) by enabling project aggregation, matchmaking with financiers and reduced transaction costs.

This report summarises the ENERGATE Final Event held during the REHVA Brussels Summit 2025, where policymakers, industry leaders, financiers and digital innovators discussed how to unlock renovation financing.

Speakers and panelists consistently highlighted the lack of harmonised, reliable and comparable data as the key reason why investors hesitate. ENERGATE was presented as a practical response to this challenge, offering a digital marketplace that transforms technical renovation concepts into standardised, investor-ready project files.

This report documents how ENERGATE positioned itself within the wider European innovation ecosystem through strategic collaboration, standardisation work, and clustering activities, maximising the impact, credibility, and uptake of its digital energy efficiency marketplace. 

Summary

This document shows that ENERGATE’s value goes beyond a single platform: it acts as a connector between EU-funded projects, data infrastructures, standardisation bodies, and market actors. By integrating services, methodologies, and data streams from complementary initiatives, ENERGATE strengthens interoperability, improves risk assessment, and increases investor confidence.

Through its leadership in the Smart Energy Cluster, ENERGATE also contributed to building a long-lasting European community of practice that accelerates knowledge exchange, joint dissemination, and market uptake of digital energy solutions.
